What Courses Can Students Take?

Students at Education Outreach have access to a wide variety of courses delivered in a variety of ways.  All of the courses are designed to meet the Provincial Education Learning Outcomes as set out by the Ministry of Education.

Students enrolled in the elementary grades generally take their full program of studies through EOP, which naturally includes Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, Planning, Physical Education, Fine Arts (Art, Music, Drama), and a second language starting by at least Grade 5.  It is possible for a student to take a specialty course at a local school, for example Band 7.  We call this type of a program a “blended” program, as the student is taking courses from more than one school in the district.

In the secondary program there are a wide variety of courses available:

* Independent Directed Studies courses allow students to create courses that they are particularly interested in studying.  Students, under the guidance and support of a teacher, will identify what they want to learn, how they will learn it, and how they will demonstrate that they have learned it.  At EOP we have a number of industry standard software mini-courses that can be packaged together to meet the students’ particular interests.  These mini-courses are listed in the table below.  To be counted as a course, students need to package the mini-courses together to create a 100-120 hour course.
