Education Outreach
Roles and Responsibilities
Outreach Staff:
·
Develop
Student Learning Plan in
collaboration with parents and student.
·
Ensure
program meets prescribed Provincial Curriculum.
·
Approve
and supply learning resources.
·
Maintain regular and on-going
communication with parents and students through telephone, e-mail, and
face-to-face meetings.
·
Assess
and report on student progress.
·
Ensure
students are on track for graduation and post-secondary admission.
Parents:
·
Collaborate
with an Outreach teacher on the development of the Student Learning Plan.
·
Participate
in regular and on-going communication with Outreach staff through telephone,
e-mail, and face-to-face meetings.
·
Provide
on-going educational and emotional support to their children as they progress
through the program.
·
Inform
staff of problems with progress or curriculum in a timely manner.
Students:
·
Communicate
problems and concerns to parents and/or Outreach teachers.
·
Participate
in all Ministry of Education province-wide assessments, including the
Foundation Skills Assessments and government exams, as expected by all students
in the province.
·
Work
hard and have fun learning in a program designed specifically for them.
·
Be
familiar with Ways to Succeed
in a Distributed Learning School and reflect on what helps/hinders their
progress.
